身為一個多貓多狗的照顧者，除了自家的孩子們之外，生活中有很大比重是在照顧中途救援來的貓咪們，所以跟獸醫師維持良好並且緊密的醫病關係是非常重要的。在台灣，醫病關係其實一直不是那麼地健康，更可以說是獸醫師其實常常沒有獲得應有的尊重。身邊的獸醫師朋友也會跟我分享他們的經歷，遇到專門把網路當獸醫的主人，真的是完全不會把「真人獸醫」的話聽進去的。其中當然也是有好玩的事情，我的獸醫跟我分享，他開藥給來就診的狗狗，請飼主一天三次，早午晚餐後給藥，結果飼主說：可是我沒有吃早餐的習慣欸。不要懷疑，這些都是真實發生的!!我們常常看見飼主與毛孩之間的故事，但這些故事鮮少從獸醫師的視角出發。這位來自紐約的出診獸醫阿塔斯醫師，記錄下了每個飼主與動物之間故事；我覺得她用了一個很珍貴的角度來理解醫病關係，同時也用一個柔軟又有溫度的方式，來讓大家學習面對毛孩子生命的起承轉合。書中有很多的溫馨故事，也有傷痛的故事，還可以從醫生的視角，看見各種不同類型的家長。我必須說，或許讀著讀著，你也會看見自己呢！而且，可能因為是從獸醫師的立場出發記錄下這每一個故事，對於害怕自己會太過脆弱、被觸碰到情緒的人，也可以放心地閱讀。這些故事對於情緒的鋪陳恰到好處，理性地敘述著每一個故事經過，但在閱讀後，依然可以獲得滿滿的溫暖與療癒，絕對是每一個毛孩飼主都需要珍藏的作品！ Read more
