In questo affascinante racconto incontriamo scarafaggi attratti dal fuoco, tartarughe in grado di tracciare i campi magnetici della Terra, pesci che riempiono i fiumi di messaggi elettrici ed esseri umani che utilizzano sonar come i pipistrelli. Scopriamo che la faccia squamosa di un coccodrillo è sensibile come la punta delle nostre dita, impariamo cosa vedono le api nei fiori, cosa sentono gli uccelli nelle loro melodie e cosa odorano i cani per strada, mentre continuiamo a interrogarci sui tanti misteri del mondo animale che rimangono tuttora irrisolti. Un mondo immenso è un libro documentato, rigoroso e divertente, che fa provare la gioia della scoperta e ci conduce in quello che per Marcel Proust era “l’unico vero viaggio”, quello fatto non per visitare terre sconosciute, ma per poter vedere con altri occhi.
