《动物生理学》第3版修订广泛参考了国内外经典教材和专著，结合编者多年教学研究成果，重新整合了教材体系，以哺乳动物生理为主线,在讲透基础生理学原理的基础上，对不同门类的动物生理特性进行比较、融合,体现了动物生理功能多样性与功能进化的特点。全书共分3篇19章,在保持第2版特色基础上，更新、修订了原有的“绪论”(1章),“第一篇动物生理学的细胞学基础”(5章),“第二篇器官生理”(10章),创新性增加“第三篇整合生理”(3章，即动物机体的神经、内分泌、免疫网络系统,机体的酸碱平衡,应激与适应)。在教材的编排上,本教材包括纸质教材和数字课程。主教材图文并茂、每章前面均有引言、知识点导读图,章后有复习思考题。数字课程主要分为7个专题:发现之旅、系统功能进化、实验与技术应用、知识拓展、案例分析、本章小结、自测题及参考答案。以期拓宽学生的生理学的知识面，为其自主学习提供一个平台。部分内容还辅以动画，便于学生理解和掌握某些重要的生理机制问题。本书主要面向全国高等农林院校的动物生产类专业和动物医学、生物科学及生物技术等专业本科生。也可作为综合性大学、师范院校等生物学有关专业本科生、研究生教学用书和科技工作者进行科学研究的参考书。
