Cosa ti rendono i ricci?” “Mi rendono felice.” “Te ne potresti occupare tu per questi due giorni?” Inizia più o meno così l’amicizia tra Massimo, veterinario specializzato nei bovini, e un riccetto orfano. Il cucciolo ha pochi giorni, è tutto rosa, e ha sul dorso una corona di aculei bianchi e morbidi, un po’ scomposti. Pesa solo 25 grammi e pigola piano: ha fame, o freddo, o forse si sente solo. Un pianto tanto disperato che scalfisce la corazza di abitudini e apatia che Massimo si è costruito. È così che Ninna – sì, perché il riccetto spettinato si rivela una femmina – stravolge la sua vita con la forza della sua personalità. È curiosa e appena “annusa” novità si affaccia dal suo rifugio; è giocherellona, e si diverte a rovesciare con il naso la ciotola dell’acqua; è affettuosa e lo lecca pazza di gioia dopo una lunga assenza. Però è anche un animale selvatico e reclama la sua libertà: la gabbia le va sempre più stretta e la sua felicità è fuori nei boschi.
