Gatti, gatti e ancora gatti. I piccoli, amatissimi felini sono i veri protagonisti di questo libro che con la loro imprevedibilità ci regalano momenti di puro divertimento e avventura, pur confinata, spesso, all’interno delle sole pareti domestiche. Zelda, la micia a tre colori, Neko-chan, la gatta giapponese senza coda, Sheeshee, l’himalaiano dagli occhi blu, così come Zizi, nera come il carbone, o Levana, una micia bianca a cui piace guardare i documentari in tv: sono loro i gatti della storia, di tutte le razze e di tutti i Paesi, ma soprattutto i gatti di Shifra Horn. Fin dall’infanzia, la scrittrice israeliana ne ha collezionati parecchi portandoseli dietro anche negli spostamenti più difficili di donna impegnata in varie cause, da Tel Aviv al Giappone e poi di nuovo a Gerusalemme. A metà tra il diario e il racconto, “Gatti” è la storia di una passione invincibile. I mici, tuttavia, non sono gli unici animali presenti nel libro: pappagalli chiassosi, cani pasticcioni, topi impavidi, formiche intraprendenti fanno da comparse in queste storie spassose che fissano sulla pagina le manie feline rendendo onore alla capacità dei gatti di cogliere stati d’animo e umori dei loro padroni. Il quadro che ne esce ci racconta i tanti aspetti della secolare convivenza uomo-gatto ed è la testimonianza di un amore senza confini, capace di attraversare vicissitudini, trasferimenti, traslochi, e, in questo caso, anche missioni diplomatiche, quasi a dimostrazione del fatto che dietro una grande donna c’è sempre un grande gatto. **
