Jackson Galaxy è un giovane sbandato, con lunghi dread multicolore e seri problemi di alcol, droga e depressione, che si guadagna da vivere passando da un impiego all’altro nella speranza di sfondare come musicista.
Ma un giorno, dopo aver letto l’annuncio di lavoro di un rifugio per animali, ha un’illuminazione: se con gli uomini non riesce proprio ad avere a che fare, può “mettersi al servizio” degli animali.
Più facile a dirsi che a farsi: assunto al rifugio, deve occuparsi di cani e gatti randagi o abbandonati, spesso feriti e spaventati, confrontarsi con la difficile questione dell’eutanasia e affrontare i propri limiti e paure. Un’esperienza, però, che rafforza la sua passione per i felini domestici, ai quali da quel momento decide di dedicarsi totalmente. E che gli permette di conoscere e adottare Benny, un micio speciale che gli insegnerà molto (sugli animali e sulla vita), gli darà la forza di mettere la testa a posto e lo aiuterà a diventare uno dei maggiori esperti di comportamento felino.
Una storia che rivela il potere dell’amicizia tra uomo e gatto e al tempo stesso un manuale che spiega come avere cura dei propri mici: all’interno troverete tanti box con i consigli per nutrirli, farli andare d’accordo con altri animali e con tutta la famiglia, insegnar loro a comportarsi in maniera corretta e, cosa più importante, renderli felici.
