L’orso è un animale che vanta una storia di tutto rispetto; attualmente è balzato alle cronache grazie a Dino (così chiamato in onore dello scrittore bellunese Dino Buzzati), che arriva in Italia dalla Slovenia nella primavera del 2009. Partito probabilmente per sfuggire al sovraffollamento del suo territorio natio, attraversa velocemente Friuli e Veneto lasciando dietro di sé greggi devastati che lo rendono famoso. Dino è migrato autonomamente, non rientra cioè nel progetto Life Ursus, finalizzato alla ricostruzione di un nucleo di orsi nelle Alpi centrali attraverso il rilascio di orsi sloveni, ma è lo spunto per approfondire la conoscenza di questo animale che ha rischiato di scomparire dal suo habitat a causa dell’uomo. Dallo stemma di Benedetto XVI alla bandiera della California, dalla ninfa Calliste trasformata in orsa per punizione da Artemide a Winnie Pooh fino agli studi anatomici di Leonardo Da Vinci: ecco come si sviluppano nella nostra cultura l’immagine e la concezione dell’orso, finalmente riconosciuto tra le specie protette da norme nazionali e comunitarie.
