Charles Bukowski ha amato molto: le donne, l’alcol, i libri e la scrittura, il gioco d’azzardo… In queste pagine scopriamo un’altra passione del cantore del lato oscuro dell’America: i gatti. Maestose e bellissime, le «piccole tigri» hanno sempre affascinato Bukowski, che con i gatti ha scelto di condividere l’esistenza, lasciando che camminassero sui tasti della macchina da scrivere e che fossero testimoni compiaciuti delle sue sbronze e delle sue scorribande – letterarie e non. Lo scrittore descrive i felini come fieri combattenti, cacciatori spietati, maestri nell’arte della sopravvivenza, animali che sanno come dare e pretendere rispetto, senza mai tradire la loro vera natura, indipendente, ribelle e un po’ cinica, proprio come quella di Bukowski. Questo libro, che attinge direttamente alla fonte dei manoscritti originali dell’autore, è il racconto autentico e intimo della vita selvatica e indomabile di uno scrittore di culto.
